A long time ago in a galaxy far, far way….. Well honestly, it’s only been a couple of months since we transformed our son’s room into the perfect Star Wars bedroom. We are big Star Wars fans and when it was time for my youngest to transition to his “Big Boy” room, we knew that Star Wars was the perfect theme. He even had a Star Wars birthday party, check out the pictures below.
For months, I brainstormed for ideas. I knew I didn’t want the room to look like the Star Wars galaxy exploded inside 4 walls. In other words, I didn’t want everything to be so matchy-matchy. The room was pretty much a blank canvas which allowed us to explore many designs options.
I worked on creating a mood board and I believe we brought everything to life. We added character to the walls by adding board and batten, fresh paint and a wallpaper.
The first thing we did was select a color scheme that would compliment the theme. I wanted to pull colors and inspirations from different Star Wars characters and scenes. There are so many designs variations on how to create the perfect Star Wars room. Seriously, the possibilities are endless.
We started by adding board and batten to the room and created a statement wall by adding the Millenium Falcon wallpaper.
After the board and batten was done, we selected the paint color: Shark Fin by Behr. It was perfect grey tone to compliment the wallpaper. On the upper walls we used Crisp Linen by Behr to brighten up the room.
Tip: When choosing paint colors, select the color palette that compliments the theme, decorations, rugs and etc.
Once the room was painted, we added those super cool and fun LED light strips all around the room. For me, adding those lights made the room really feel like it was part of the galaxy.
Selecting the bedroom decor
I am sure you have seen Star Wars theme beddings from Target, Pottery Barn and others but I was determined to stay away from those. Don’t get me wrong, I think they are super cute but I wanted to create a classy and timeless Star Wars room.
Therefore, the bedding I chose is a navy blue with silver/grey detailing. It was bought from Amazon. For the curtains, I selected a Navy and Light grey stripes that tied in really well with the bedding. The color of our carpet is tan and I added an Ivory and Grey rug to make the floors Pop.
Wall Decor
Selecting the wall decorations was easy for me. I picked a wall to add art and another wall to add shelves. On the shelves we added the famous Mandalorian helmet, Star Wars legos and other memorabilia. You can’t have a Star Wars room without the lightsabers, right?
So, we gave the room that extra glowing aesthetic by incorporating LED lightsabers. How cool is that?!
On the opposite wall I added these super cool watercolor prints and hung them on float frames. It was the best way to display the characters and also fill up the wall.
Below I linked some of the items that I used to create G’s dream room.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this room come to life. We truly poured our hearts out to make “G”the happiest boy in the world and we love how his face lights up every time he walks in his room.

May the force be with you!
