Hello Friends! It’s officially Fall and my porch is looking beautiful! Last year, I made this fall topiary and it is one of my absolute favorite and easiest Fall DIY & Craft projects! If you are following me on Instagram, you know that my porch and house have been “fall- ready” for quite some time.
I love when a project is easy to make, but looks store bought. To be honest, last summer I was looking to purchase some fall topiaries but couldn’t see myself spending $150-$200 a piece! Yikes!!!! That’s when I decided to put on my “crafty” hat on and I got creative.
Ready to make your own topiary? Here is the list!
Fall Topiary Supply list:
- Tomato Cage (or 2)- I purchased mine at ‘Home Depot’
- Urn planters- I purchased mine from ‘At Home’
- Fake fall leaves garlands- I purchased mine from ‘Hobby Lobby’.
- Plastic tablecloths- Orange- I purchased from ‘Dollar Tree’
First, gather your urns and measure them to make sure that the bottom of the tomato cages will fit tightly. You might have to bend the hoop a bit to make it fit better. Once it has a snug fit, tape the hoop to the urn for extra support. I used the orange plastic tablecloth and bunched it up inside the cage, while also securing the top with some duct tape. (This step is not mandatory, but I did it because I did not want to see “open areas” through the cages.)
Now, let’s get to the fun part! I wrapped my garlands around the cages and made sure they covered the areas well. For each fall topiary, I used 8 garlands. Note: You may use more or less depending on size of the topiary you are trying to make and also the garlands you purchase. For instance, if your cage is smaller or your garland is thicker or “fuller”; you may need less supplies.
I wrapped each garland separately and “fluffed” the leaves. I repeated this step for each garland and made sure the cages looked “full”. You could also, use pipe cleaners to secure the garland to the cages in case they will be placed in an area that might be windy. You don’t want them to fall over!
Ta-da!!! You have created your fall topiary and you are now ready to beautify your home or porch! If you want to be extra fancy, add some lights! 😊
