The plan worked! We have paint and DIY built ins! It is week 7 of the Spring 2021 One Room Challenge and so much have been accomplished. This journey has been beyond amazing and has brought out some superpowers I did not know I possessed.

This week to -do list was fairly easy. I say it was easy because I had formulated a plan for this challenge and stayed on track every week. The plan for week 7 was to paint and add the trims to the bookcases, creating a DIY built-ins look.
Here is a recap of everything we achieved this week:
Paint: We painted the cabinets and the bookcases using Behr- Norwegian Blue in semi-gloss. It is the perfect moody blue/grey color, and I am obsessed with it. I also used it on my DIY board and batten entryway wall.
DIY Built ins: We used bookcases and added trims to give it a customized look. Like I have stated before, I came up with this idea because we needed to work smarter not harder. My husband and I are not carpenters nor contractors and we wanted to DIY my office and craft room on a budget.
After painting everything, I attached the wooden trims on all the sides of the bookcases using liquid nails. For the top and bottom of the bookcases, we created a box-like crown molding utilizing the same trims. To secure everything, we used these super handy and affordable clamps that we purchased on Amazon. The clamps allowed the glue to dry and kept the wooden trims in place.
Since my customized peel and stick wallpaper from Love vs Design is gold and white, I wanted to incorporate more gold and I found the perfect drawer pulls from Home Depot. These brass pulls were gorgeous, providing a polished and classy look on the cabinets and drawers. It is all about the details. 🙂

Can you believe that next week is the final reveal? The last 7 weeks, have a been an action-packed ride. I have poured my heart out into this project, and to say that I am proud of myself, it is truly an understatement. Would you believe me if I told you that I am already brainstorming a project for the next challenge? Whether is transforming, designing or DIY-ing rooms, all of this just adds fuel to my soul and fills my heart with so much joy.
I am sure all the Spring 2021 One Room Challenge participants are ecstatic to reveal their project next week. You can check out their projects and progress here.
See you next week!
