Spring 2023 One Room Challenge- Week 6
The ceiling of the gentleman’s bathroom is truly a showstopper. So much progress has been made these last of couple weeks and I am loving the results so far.
For week 6 of the Spring 2023 One Room Challenge we did lot of painting and staining to create faux beams on the ceiling. I knew I wanted to design an attractive wall and I selected the ceiling for that job. And boy, did our arms hurt! But I think it was totally worth it.
Originally, I thought of doing wooden slats on the ceiling but opted for a different look to reduce cost. To accomplish the look I want, I painted the walls in the color Midnight Blue by Behr with the eggshell finish. For the wooden beams I stained them using a mixture of Minwax stain in Jacobean and Special Walnut.
We bought 12’ boards and had to cut each one to accommodate the ceiling measurements. After that, I applied the stain on the boards and allowed them to dry.
While the boards were drying, we painted the ceiling and the walls in the color Midnight blue. This shade of blue delivers the right amount of moodiness and it matches so well with the wallpaper and the vibe of the gentleman’s bathroom.
If you think all projects are brought to life flawlessly, think again! Not all projects goes as planned for the most part. I always use my brad nailer for my projects but guess what? I discovered that both batteries were damaged! Since I didn’t have time to run to the store for a new one, I decided to screw the boards on the ceiling. Afterwards, we covered the screws with wood fillers and stain to give it a seamless look.
Seriously, I can’t believe how far we have come and how much progress we have made. You can revisit the vision and design board I created for the bathroom here.
We are almost at the finish line, and I have no doubt that all of the One Room Challenge participants are working hard and some are even burning the midnight oil to complete their tasks. Make sure you check out their projects and progress here.
See y’all next week!
